COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Freshmen Kadijah Doughty, Kiona Mency and Kameko Webb all set school-records as the Wesley College women's track & field team finished fourth of 12 teams at the Ursinus Open on Friday afternoon. Stockton finished first on the day with 136 points, followed by Ursinus and Millersville (89). The Wolverines accumulated 76 points on the day.
Doughty was victorious in the shot put with her record-breaking throw of 40-00.50. A native of Milton, Del., Doughty broke Ashley Cooper's three-year-old record by over four inches.
Webb bested her own school-record in the long jump by two inches with a 16-08.00 effort, winning the event by seven inches. The Harrisburg, Pa., native, also finished third in the long jump with classmate Arnelle Akakpo placing second (33-10.25). Akakpo scored fifth place points in the long jump (15-06.00).
A Hagerstown, Md., product, Mency was edged in the 200m Dash by .02 but still broke her own school-record, clocking in a 26.01. Her mark also broke the Capital Athletic Conference record by .18. Mency's High School and now current teammate Elizsha Streeter took third in the event at 26.21 which also would have been a school-record. Mency and Streeter also took third and sixth place, respectively in the 60m Dash in times of 7.96 and 8.11.
On Saturday, February 22, Wesley will compete at the CAC Championships hosted by Christopher Newport University.
