Freshman Trio Leads Women's Track to Open CACs

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Freshmen Taylor Rae Danforth and Arnelle Akakpo finished third in their respective events, the pole vault and triple jump, to open the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Track Championships on Saturday afternoon.

Danforth earned six points for Wesley with a 10-02 effort while Akakpo traveled 34-11.75.  Danforth also made her debut in the hammer throw with a 98-00 toss.

Freshman Elizsha Streeter set school-records in both the 100m and 200m Dash preliminaries, running a 12.44 to earn the top time in the 100, and a 25.42, seeding her second in the Finals tomorrow.

Streeter's classmates Kiona Mency (12.77, 26.44) and Angel Hall (13.06, 26.81) also qualified for the finals in both the 100m and 200m Dash tomorrow while junior Stevi Carpenter (13.11) also earned a spot in the 100m.
