Five Women's Wolverines Win Heats, Two Set Records at Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. – Five Wolverines won their heats and two school-records were set as the Wesley College women's track & field team competed at the Patriot Games on Saturday hosted by George Mason University.

Setting school-records on the day were sophomores Elizsha Streeter in the 500m (1:22.29) and Taylor Rae Danforth in the Pole Vault (10-2").

Streeter also was Wesley's top performer in the 200m (26.27) while sophomore Angel Hall (26.97) and freshmen Alexia Mitchell (27.49) and Ashley Morris (27.69) won their respective heats in the event.  Mitchell also won her heat in the 60m (8.10) while Morris advanced to the semifinals of the 60m hurdles in 9.49.

To close out the day, the 4x400m Relay of Streeter, Hall and freshman newcomers Danae Carter and Aja Russell had an impressive showing by winning their heat in 4:15.26.  Defeating its rival Salisbury in the heat, Wesley lost nearly five seconds of time as its baton hit the ground late in the opening leg.  Streeter then clawed her way back into the race and took the lead which Carter extended and Russell anchored to a victory.

Wesley returns to the track on Saturday, February 7 at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College.
