Men earn Top-10 Finish at Spartan Regional Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Wesley College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Spartan Regional Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday.

Kai Cole and Thomas Kalieta Jr. each finished in the top-five in two events to lead the Wesley men to a seventh-place finish as a team. Cole and Kalieta finished 1-2 in the 200-meter dash. Cole crossed the line in 22.06 seconds while Kalieta finished in 22.14 seconds. Cole turned in a second-place time in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.98 seconds. Kalieta placed third in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 48.7 seconds.

Javonte Freeman recorded a top-five finish in the 60-meter hurdles, placing third with a time of 8.60 seconds. The men's 4x200-meter relay earned a fifth-place finish recording a time of 1:32.86. Jordan Dillard placed ninth in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:09.23. John Heriot placed 12th in the 200 with a time of 22.72 seconds.

Evelina Sloboh paced led the Wesley women with two top-10 finishes at the meet, including winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.71 seconds. Sloboh placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.31. Maysha Foster registered a seventh-place time in the 60 finishing in 7.95 seconds.

The women's 4x200-meter relay of Sloboh, Foster, Victoria Robinson and Shaniel Thomas placed sixth with a time of 1:48.65 seconds.

The Wesley track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 19 when they compete in the Ursinus College Classic.
