ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Wesley College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed on Friday at the Navy Select Invitational
Evelina Sloboh broke the school record and cruised to the gold medal in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.60 seconds. Sloboh bested her previous record of 7.61 seconds set at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2016. She also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 25.68 seconds.
The Wesley men swept the sprints at the Navy Select. Kai Cole won the 60- and 200-meter dashes at the meet. Cole finished the 60 in 6.91 seconds and the 200 in 21.82 seconds. Thomas Kalieta Jr. picked up a win in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.97 seconds. Kalieta teamed up with TySean Cousar, John Heriot and Jordan Dillard won the 4x400-meter relay clocking in at 3:24.77. Javonte Freeman won the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.48 seconds.
Heriot earned three individual top-10 finishes. Heriot placed fifth in the 200 (22.34), sixth in the long jump (5.87, 19-3.25) seventh in the 60 (7.15). Brandon Faulk placed second in the high jump clearing 1.90 meters (6-2.75). Jordan Dillard finished in fifth in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:07.96.
Wesley will now prepare for the three-day Boston Last Chance meet starting on Friday, Feb. 22.
