BOSTON, Mass. – The Wesley College men's and women's track & field teams geared up for nationals at the weekend-long Boston University Last Chance Meet.
On the men's side, Wesley had six top-10 finishes. Kai Cole picked up three top-10 finishes while Thomas Kalieta Jr. collected two top-10 finishes. Cole placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.79 seconds. Cole and Kalieta placed 5-6 in the 200-meter dash. Cole finished in 21.40 seconds while Kalieta crossed the line in 21.43 seconds. Both Cole and Kalieta obliterated the previous school record in the 200 meters of 21.54 seconds held by Anthony Simpson in 2016.
Cole and Kalieta now rank first and second in the nation in the 200-meter dash. Both of their times were the fastest ran in Division III indoor track in over two years.
Cole, Kalieta, John Heriot and TySean Cousar finished in ninth place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.73.
Jordan Dillard broke the school record in the 500-meter run, placing fifth in the event with a time of 1:06.95. Dillard's time beat the previous school record of 1:07.48 set by Urgy Eado in 2015.
Brandon Faulk notched a fifth-place mark in the high jump when he cleared 1.95 meters (6-4.75).
On the women's side, Evelina Sloboh finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.61 seconds. Sloboh then broke the school record in the 200-meter dash with a 20th-place effort in the event. Sloboh's time of 25.46 seconds broke Angel Hall's previous record of 25.63 seconds in 2016-17.
