Volleyball downs Rutgers-Camden, Wilkes for sixth consecutive victory

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Wesley College volleyball team took down the Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptors and the Wilkes Colonials in a non-conference tri-match to earn their sixth consecutive win and their 12th win in 13 games.

The Wolverines traded set wins with the host Scarlet Raptors before taking the fifth and decisive set to win the match three sets to two (20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 18-16).

Five Wolverines tallied six or more kills in the victory. Codi Ziolkowski led the Wolverines with 12 kills on 27 attacks. Jessica Tynes and Tania Rounds each notched eight kills apiece. Tynes dug out 15 attacks while Rounds blocked six Scarlet Raptor attacks and added seven digs.

Tionne Graves-Brown recorded 12 digs and seven kills. She registered the game-winning service ace in the deciding set. Nadia Hopkins chipped in with six kills on 12 attacks.

Caelli Clifford paced the back row with a match-high 27 digs and added seven assists. Lindsay Burg and Teaghen Vogelsang combined for 35 assists.

Cortnee Wilkerson had 16 digs, 10 kills and five aces for the Scarlet Raptors.

In a rematch from the Puerto Rico Clasico over Labor Day weekend, Wesley rolled to a three-set win (28-26, 25-22, 25-22) over the Colonials in the middle game of the tri-match.

Ziolkowski collected a team-high 13 kills and added three block assists. Courtney Olson registered eight kills on 14 attacks. Rounds and Regan Healey each put down six kills on the Colonials. Graves-Brown added seven digs and five kills.

Burg was two digs away from a double-double as she handed out 21 assists and dug out eight attacks. Clifford totaled 16 digs while Vogelsang dished out 12 assists.

Jamey Mikovich had 13 kills for the Colonials.

The Wolverines (12-3) will look to continue their streak when they head across the Bay Bridge to Baltimore on Tuesday to take on the Notre Dame Gators. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
