Volleyball sweeps home opener against Valley Forge, Washington Adventist

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Sunday in their 2018 home opener, sweeping the Valley Forge Patriots and the Washington Adventist Shock in three sets.

Wesley dominated Valley Forge in the opening match of the tri-match, sweeping the match 25-9. 25-11, 25-13.

Regan Healey picked up a double-double against Valley Forge with a career-high 20 kills, along with 13 digs. Healey also added three block assists, two assists and a service ace.

Elisa Hackendorn tallied seven digs with six kills. Mary Getty recorded five kills, three service aces and two blocks. Jenna Burchfield also dropped in four service aces.

Lindsay Burg recorded a game-high 23 assists and added seven digs. Teaghen Vogelsang handed out 13 assists with two blocks.

Allison Mills dug out 24 attacks on the back line.

Healey collected another double-double in the finale of the tri-match as Wesley downed a late rallying Washington Adventist, 25-4, 25-15, 25-20.

Healey registered 12 digs and a team-high 10 kills. Getty notched nine kills on 18 attacks while Micah Wright and Lexus Christopher each recorded seven kills. Christopher added six digs and four service aces.

Burg and Vogelsang combined for 32 assists. Mills paced the defense with 22 digs.

Wesley will continue their week-long homestand on Wednesday when they host the Lancaster Bible Chargers. Game time from Wentworth Gymnasium is set for 7 p.m.
