SMYRNA, Del. - Alyson Davis ran the tenth-fastest 5K in Wesley College women's cross country history to highlight the Wolverines fifth place performance at the Delaware State Invitational on Friday afternoon. Wesley defeated Division II District of Columbia while finishing just behind Division I Maryland-Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Howard and Delaware State.
A freshman from Smyrna, Del., Davis, completed the 3.1 mile course in 21:51.2, placing 28th of 76 runners and second on the team. Just ahead of Davis was her sophomore teammate and school-record holder Dieunise Desir, who battled sickness to take 22nd overall in 21:08.1.
Chiquita Deline made her collegiate debut to finish in 24:02.2 and Kenya Reese was just behind in 24:14.0. Also competing for Wesley was Alexia Mitchell (24:23), Elizsha Streeter (24:32.7), Alexus Reese (25:57.8) and first time cross country runners Taylor Lynch (27:06.2) and Aja Russell (29:37.4).
Wesley now has two weeks off before the Capital Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, November 1, held at Four Winds Golf Course in Rappahannock Valley, Virginia.
